Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife

The Asido Campus Network, OAU Chapter (ACN OAU) is a student-led movement at Obafemi Awolowo University dedicated to promoting mental health awareness, advocacy, and support among young people. More than a student organization, ACN OAU is a community of changemakers—students who believe that mental health is a vital part of student life and who are determined to challenge the silence and stigma surrounding it using the platform Asido Foundation provides. We understand that university life brings a unique set of pressures: academic stress, financial difficulties, identity struggles, and the challenge of finding balance. These pressures often go unspoken due to stigma or fear of judgment. That’s why we exist to start conversations, create safe spaces, and remind every student that they are not alone in their mental health journey. Our mission is simple yet powerful: To educate the campus community about mental health in relatable, practical ways. To normalize conversations around mental well-being and dismantle harmful stereotypes. To build a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters resilience, empathy, and understanding for all students regardless of background, belief, or identity. Through empathy-driven advocacy, creative campaigns, and peer support, ACN OAU continues to redefine what it means to care for one another within the university community.
